Estill Parks and Recreation Association, Inc.
Our association was first form by the Estill County Fiscal Court to explore the possibility of
building a park in Estill County, The association grew to (13) members we created a Corporation under
the Kentucky State status and now a Public Charity under section 501(c) (3) under the Internal
Revenue Code. We work closely with the Estill County Fiscal Court to obtain grants and other funds to
build this park
In the
year 2005 the Association contracted to purchase 80+ acres on Pea Ridge Road near Richmond Road about
4 miles west of Irvine. The property adjoins the old Riney B Railroad Line which was build in
1895 to move passengers and freight between Irvine and Nicholasville. With this Historical fact the
Association applied for and received a Rails for Trails grant of $50,000 to construction walking
trails around and thought the park. Construction is to begin late summer of 2006. Another Grant was
applied for and received for the land acquisition $75,000 will be applied towards the purchase of the
property to implement this grant we completed a site survey and the
archaeological survey
phase I. We are now starting the final design of Estill County's Park.
